Resilient Lahaina
Supporting Lahaina's Cultural Recovery Efforts
Resilient Lahaina
There are significant efforts underway to protect and recover the important cultural resources in Lahaina. Community, in partnership with county, state, and federal agencies, are mobilizing on cultural issues and resources.
As of Aug 18, 2023, Urban Search and Rescue efforts are still underway. Some delayering is occurring to support these efforts. Local practitioners have been informed about these activities. There are also dust fences and other protective measures being installed. Those activities are being monitored by local archaeologists.
Above all else, we want to defer to the local community on the ground in West Maui. These are dedicated cultural practitioners and historians facing a devastating situation. We are here to kāko‘o (support) their needs and leadership.
If you are interested in helping, please contact us via the contact form on this page, or if you are a historic preservation professional, please use this survey to submit your qualifications.
Please check back soon, as we will be updating this website with additional information about us and our efforts.
Mahalo nui!
